Convention countdown!

Genial north Denver dictator El Presidente of Slapstick Politics has honored the D-blog with the grave and perhaps fatal responsibilty of keeping his DNC countdown news feature up to date while he does whatever the hell he wants to for however long he feels like it.

Only 77 days, one hour and 50-something minutes until the DNC.

The papers:

"Xcel donating wind power to run Dem, GOP conventions." About $30 thou worth. If only we could harness the massive power of self-congratulation.

Meet Colorado's super-delegates!

The Podium (apparently a new Rocky feature) has a couple of good brieflets, plus another Rocky story from the 1908 convention.

Final DNCC community meetings tomorrow and Wednesday:
The final two events in the DNCC's "Convention Conversations" are to be held this week in Denver. The series is aimed at providing detailed convention information to local residents and businesses.

Media Mouse:
A new one-off online publication called "In the Middle of a Whirlwind: 2008 Convention Protests, Movement and Movements" has been released. The publication explores radical anti-authoritarian organizing in the United States across a variety of issues with the immediate focus being the upcoming mobilizations against the Republican National Convention (RNC) and Democratic National Convention (DNC). Through a series of interviews with groups organizing gainst the conventions and articles by people involved in radical movements across the United States, "In the Middle of a Whirlwind" provides an inspiring look at where we are at, where we have been, and where we need to go.
That's where, I say, where we need to go.

Update: This should be cross-posted over at SP, but I've completely forgotten how to do it. He'll tell me. And then he'll beat me.
