Weird Bird Friday

Why is it that whenever I go in search of a new weird bird, I always find it in Australia (or thereabouts--some of these may be from Tasmania)? I have discovered the Tawny Frogmouth, which (as is true for many species), is especially cute in its infancy.

And finally, Oscar, a baby Tawny with a stylish 'do.

UPDATE: If you click on the "Oscar" link, you have to scroll down almost to the bottom to find Oscar's story. It's worth it, though, because you can see pictures of Oscar as he grows up and is finally released in the wild. Right below Oscar is a way-cool picture of a microbat. Well, the picture isn't all that cool, but the microbat is.
