Heard Lileks on Hugh Hewitt's 8th anniversary show today. Somehow they got on to old-time radio, and he (Lileks) alluded to one of my faves: Pat Novak: For Hire. So that's what's up. This one's called "Marcia Halpern" (27 February 1949). Clean sound, but the volume's very low.
They also played a piece of the next show, which I've posted once before but is definitely worth rehearing. Lieutenant Robert Montgomery in one of the first multi-network, coast-to-coast radio hookups: "This is War" (14 February 1942). Great stuff, and remember, that's Pete Seeger singing the last merry tune.
